Awa program

Awa program

For the West African region, the consortium formed by the French Institute and the Kôrè Cultural Center in Ségou (Mali) was selected to implement the “ACP-EU Culture Programme: support for the Culture and Creation in West Africa- AWA”. Conducted over a period of 40 months (from December 2020 to April 2024), the main objective of the AWA program is to support the structuring of cultural and creative industries in West Africa, by encouraging the boosting of their competitiveness and by contributing to supporting the development of the region’s digital economy. Addressing 16 West African countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo and Mauritania ), this program revolves around three main areas of intervention: financial support for the structuring and promotion of projects led by cultural operators in the region, the implementation of a skills-building program for professionals in the cultural and creative industries, aimed in particular at facilitating access to the market and to innovative financing, the networking of West African cultural actors through innovative models of creative collaborations
